RT-PCR stands for Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. An RT-PCR test is considered as one of the most accurate testing for the novel coronavirus disease. An RT-PCR test uses nasopharyngeal swab/oral swab/nasal swab for the identification of virus particles in the patients. The test is carried out by trained professionals with the help of an RT-PCR test kit. It involves the extraction of genetic material (RNA) of the Covid-19 virus. Covid-19 RT-PCR test detects the genes specific for the SARS-COV-2 virus (the virus that causes Covid-19 disease).
People who experience initial symptoms of coronavirus such as difficulty in breathing or loss of smell/taste. Fever, cough, headache, muscle ache, and sore throat are some symptoms of coronavirus disease. Most people get confused with coronavirus and common cold as they both share similar symptoms.
